Guilty as charged

Sandusky was found guilty of 45 counts of child abuse. Did he really expect a different verdict? Apparently, he believes he did nothing wrong and that these children started to have problems only when HE was out of their lives.  What a self-righteous prick! After reading the transcripts of the witness testimony, I truly empathize with them and commend them for being courageous and standing up for the truth. It's gut-wrenching to imagine the assaults, the bleeding, their screams for help and their tears in wanting it so badly to stop. They did not know what to do and how to handle that situation. Hopefully they can forgive, heal and move forward, now that justice is served. Two things sadden me.  The first is the fact that Mike McQueary did not go above and beyond to reconcile what he witnessed.  Had I walked into a locker room and seen a naked man behind a young a boy, heard skin slapping sounds, which was an apparent rape in progress, I would have walked in and beat the gonads out of him. Whether he was the boss, my idol or the King of England would not make a difference, a crime is a crime and should never be ignored. McQueary did not go above and beyond. And it would be years after this initial encounter and many more victims before Sandusky was charged. The second which astonishes me, is the seemingly innocent wife who stands by her husband.  If you live with someone and have no clue as to what their inclinations or depravities are, you have a serious problem. I doubt she was unaware. Turning the other way does not resolve, and the worst part is that innocent children suffer and are destined to live a life fighting their demons. Jerry Sandusky is a prime example of a pedophile, someone in power, with a position of authority, who loves and cares because he had his charity reaching out to troubled youth. Sure he cares about no one but himself.  Watch out for those people who are eager to be nice to your child. Your child or mine are probably not all that special.

Do you think Dottie Sandusky knew about abuse? Is she somehow responsible or is she just a very clueless wife?

Human Trafficking

So proud to see Jada Pinkett-Smith and Salma Hayek team up in this music video.  It is aimed at Latino girls, who are often lured into human trafficking through "love".  It is a powerful video. It made me cringe.  Trafficking is disgusting, heinous, dehumanizing and certainly not the way we were meant to learn about sex. Sex trafficking is real in our society. It happens every day and we must teach our young girls about it, expose them to the reality and cruelty that is our society. Yes, maybe they will grow with a sense of paranoia but that is a small price to pay. Let's expose them to the facts and help them make better choices.  My mom used to say that there are no real friends, I used to laugh about it and almost hated her for being so "mean" to me. She had a point, it seems nowadays we cannot put our trust in anyone.  We have to always keep our distance, that is indeed the safest thing to do. Our children do not have to be victims. And let us remember to pray for our kids, I truly believe prayer saved my life.  Please watch the video and share the link....let's spread awareness and stop human trafficking.

Little Grads

Okay so maybe it's not the end of the world when your kid graduates Elementary.  Apparently to some, i'd like to think, non-parents, it's not that big a deal. If you are around children, you will realize that it is a big deal to them.  I do not recall my graduation from Kindergarten or Elementary or Middle School, maybe it's because those around me had the very same attitude that it's not important.  I beg to differ.  I celebrated my daughter's Elementary promotion with shopping, brunch and a movie. It was awesome.  Sure, it's not the end of the world. But after five years of going to school, getting good grades and being a good kid, heck, you deserve some recognition.  Hooray!
